Firearm Safety Class

Information about the MN DNR Hunter Education/Firearm Safety Certification Program can be found online. A summary is provided here for your convenience but please reference the DNR website for the most current information.

  1. Students age 11 and older may complete their online hunter safety course.
  2. Then, attend a hybrid/field day event that starts with a classroom review and firearms fundamentals session.
  3. Students will then finish the hybrid event with the field experience.

The Veterans and Outdoors Gun Club host four Firearm Safety Hybrid/Field Day events per year. 2025 Field Days are scheduled for: May 17th, June 14th, July 19th and August 9th. Our Field Days are published on the MN DNR Events page approximately 30 days in advance. Participants do not need to be Post 435 or Gun Club members.

VERY IMPORTANT: This is a ONE DAY field course which is adapted to our available range time, facilities, and instructor availability. This Field Day may run longer than other MN DNR Field Days. We limit class size to allow for student hands-on learning and encourage all registered students to be ready to participate. The student must possess their online course completion voucher from HunterCourse.com in order to register for this program.

For further inquiries or to register, send an e-mail with the students full name, age, and parent/guardian contact information to: Post435Safety@outlook.com.
Information about cost, arrival and pick-up times, and additional details will be provided upon registration.
